Quick Answer
What is private label kids’ underwear? Private label kids’ underwear is children’s underwear made by a factory and sold under a retailer’s or brand’s own name. The factory handles development, production, and packing; the brand owns the label, the packaging, and the customer relationship. Nuohua is a China-based private label kids’ underwear manufacturer with 10 years export experience, a 100 pcs MOQ per style and color, full customization, and products built to GB 31701 Class A — for brands that want to launch without running a factory.
Why Choose Nuohua for Private Label Kids’ Underwear
Private label is a brand play, not just a sourcing one. The factory you pick becomes the silent partner behind your logo, so the right partner protects your launch date, your compliance paperwork, and your design confidentiality — all three at once. A weak link at the factory surfaces later as a detained shipment, a mislabeled composition tag, or a leaked design; a strong one is invisible because the problem never reached your customer. Here is what a private label buyer gets with Nuohua.

- Factory-direct development. We run pattern making, cutting, sewing, finishing, and inspection in-house. You talk to the people who make the garments, not a trading middleman taking a margin on your launch.
- 10 years export experience. Since 2016 we have shipped kids’ underwear and sleepwear to 30+ countries, learning the documentation and compliance each market expects from a private label supplier.
- 100 pcs MOQ. A low minimum lets a new brand test three colors for the commitment of one large bet — see our low-MOQ guide.
- Compliance built in. Products are made to GB 31701 Class A (China’s highest children’s garment safety grade) and verified by SGS, TÜV SÜD, and Intertek on request.
- Full customization. Fabric, size, color, style, label, and packaging are all adjustable to your brand — detailed below, with the brand-identity details that matter most to private label.
This is also a confidentiality question. A private label brand lives or dies on its design staying its own, so our team works in English and replies against your tech pack line by line. The details that protect a children’s brand — a waistband width, a label placement, a fiber claim — are agreed in writing before cloth is cut. That written trail is what makes a 100 pcs trial order as traceable as a 10,000-pcs reorder, and what lets us sign an NNN agreement without hesitation (see the IP section).

Private Label vs OEM vs ODM
Most buyers reach us at the point of deciding how they want to work with a factory. The three models are easy to confuse, and the choice shapes your cost, your lead time, and how much of the design you own.
| Model | Who designs | What the brand owns | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Private label | Factory starting point, brand-specified finishes | Label, packaging, customer relationship | Fast brand launch with low design overhead |
| OEM | Buyer (full tech pack) | Design + label + packaging | Brands with a finished tech pack |
| ODM | Factory, brand adapts | Adapted design + label + packaging | Brands wanting proven starting designs |
In practice the line is thin: a private label program often starts from our ODM designs and is then re-labeled, re-colored, and re-packaged until it reads as the brand’s own. Our OEM vs ODM guide walks through which fits a given stage, and our brand-startup guide covers the launch sequence end to end. For a first-time founder, private label is usually the fastest route from idea to sellable SKU.

Customization Options
A private label kids’ underwear manufacturer should make the brand look like the brand, not like a catalog. These are the options we support on a standard order.
| Option | What you can specify |
|---|---|
| Size range | 100–150 (4T–12T), with graded patterns; smaller baby sizes available on request. |
| Fabric | 100% combed cotton, 95/5 cotton-spandex, bamboo viscose, modal, EcoCosy®, and ice silk — see our fabric overview. |
| Style | Brief, boxer, hipster, training underwear, and sleepwear — your tech pack or our ODM starting points. |
| Color & print | Custom-dyed to Pantone; all-over or placement prints carrying your artwork. |
| Label & logo | Woven label, printed tag, or heat-transfer; your brand artwork. |
| Packaging | Polybag, hangtag, belly band, and carton — fully custom to your shelf. |

Most new private label brands start with 95/5 cotton-spandex for everyday stretch and recovery, then add a 100% combed cotton version for sensitive skin. Bamboo viscose and modal read as premium and drape softly; EcoCosy® is our authorized low-impact fiber for brands that want a concrete sustainability story rather than a vague “green” claim. We lock the fabric in the BOM so the composition label matches the tested cloth — the single detail that decides whether your border paperwork clears or stalls.
Product Specifications
The numbers below reflect a typical kids’ brief program. Exact specs are locked in your tech pack and Bill of Materials (BOM) before bulk production — for private label, that BOM also carries your label and packaging references.
| Parameter | Typical specification |
|---|---|
| Fabric composition | 95% cotton / 5% spandex (or 100% combed cotton) |
| Fabric weight | 160–190 gsm for underwear; 180–220 gsm for sleepwear |
| Construction | Overlock seams, flatlock option, covered elastic waistband |
| Size range | 100–150 (4T–12T) |
| Age group | Children 4–12 years (toddler sizes on request) |
| MOQ | 100 pcs per style and color |

Manufacturing Process
From an approved tech pack to a shipped carton, a standard private label kids’ underwear order moves through six steps. Each step is documented so the brand can trace the lot.
- Tech pack review. We confirm sizing, fabric, construction, label, packaging, and compliance requirements with you — our tech-pack guide explains what to prepare.
- Fabric sourcing & intake test. Fabric is logged and checked for composition and color before cutting.
- Pattern & sampling. A PP (pre-production) sample is made and signed off — this is the single biggest accelerator of a launch date.
- Bulk cutting & sewing. Automated cutting tables and overlock lines keep pieces consistent across the lot.
- QC & finishing. Six inspection stages (below) plus needle detection, then label and pack.
- Packaging & shipment. Custom packing with your branding, carton labeling, and booking.
Every step above is recorded, not just performed. The PP sample is the reference point the whole lot is measured against, and the BOM locks fabric, trim, label, and packaging so nothing drifts between sample and shipment. For a private label brand this means a reorder six months later comes back identical — the consistency that turns a first launch into a standing wholesale account.

Quality Control
Children’s underwear leaves no room for critical defects. Our 6-stage inspection covers fabric intake, cutting, in-line sewing, finished-garment, needle detection, and pre-shipment AQL. We work to AQL 2.5 for Major defects and AQL 4.0 for Minor defects, with 0% acceptance for Critical defects (broken needles, sharp metal, choking-hazard trim). A calibrated needle detector runs on every lot, and the final defect rate stays under 0.3%.
| Stage | What we check |
|---|---|
| 1. Fabric intake | Composition, color, and hand-feel against the approved swatch. |
| 2. Cutting | Panel shape, grain, and size grading before sewing. |
| 3. In-line sewing | Seam integrity, elastic recovery, and trim attachment at the line. |
| 4. Finished garment | Measurement, appearance, and AQL 2.5 / 4.0 defect count. |
| 5. Needle detection | 100% pass through a calibrated needle detector — Critical = 0 acceptance. |
| 6. Pre-shipment | Final AQL on the packed lot, plus carton and labeling check. |

Our full inspection method is documented in the AQL inspection guide. Third-party verification by SGS, TÜV SÜD, or Intertek can be arranged and named on the report — we name the lab, not ourselves.
Certifications & Compliance
We are straight about what we hold and what we do not. This is the current position:
| Standard | Nuohua position |
|---|---|
| GB 31701 Class A | Products are built to China’s highest children’s garment safety grade (A = infant & young child level). |
| OEKO-TEX Standard 100 | In progress — we do not claim it as held. |
| CPSIA / CPC | We support US buyers with CPC documentation and tracking labels — see the fiber-label guide for the paperwork chain. |
| REACH (EU) | EU-bound orders are managed for REACH substance limits. |
| SGS / TÜV SÜD / Intertek | Used as independent third-party test labs on request. |
Honest note: We do not claim certifications we have not earned. Compliance is built into how we make the garment (materials, construction, testing) and verified by named third-party labs — not asserted with a logo we cannot back.
What “built to GB 31701 Class A” means in practice: the standard sets limits for pH value, formaldehyde, and azo dyes, requires color fastness suited to young skin, restricts accessible sharp points and edges, and caps cord and accessory hazards. We design the garment and select materials so these limits are met at the BOM stage — not caught at inspection. For a private label brand exporting to the US or EU, that built-in compliance is what keeps a container moving through customs instead of sitting in a hold.

Packaging, Labeling & Brand Identity
For private label, the pack is the product on the shelf. Packaging is fully custom: polybag with suffocation warning, hangtag, belly band, and export carton — all carrying your brand. Care and fiber-content labels follow the destination market’s rules; for the EU that means composition within the 3% tolerance of EU Regulation 1007/2011, and “bamboo” must be labeled as viscose from bamboo. Our fiber-label guide explains why that tolerance matters at the border.
For export we use smiley-face suffocation-warning bags where required, and cartons are marked with SKU, size, and quantity so your warehouse receives a countable, scannable shipment. Mixed-size orders are sorted and stickered to your instructions before they leave the factory — the small operational detail that saves a fulfillment team hours on arrival.

MOQ & Pricing
The MOQ is 100 pcs per style and color. For a private label launch this means you can stock three colors of one style at the cost of a single large bet — low risk while you learn which SKU sells. Volume tiers (300 / 500 / 1,000+) lower the unit price, and we offer competitive pricing at every tier. Our low-MOQ guide shows how a 100-piece start compares to buying stock.
| Order size (per style & color) | What it means |
|---|---|
| 100 pcs | Trial / test launch — highest unit price, lowest risk. |
| 300 pcs | First real run for a small brand or boutique. |
| 500 pcs | Steady reorder; unit price drops noticeably. |
| 1,000+ pcs | Wholesale / Amazon scale; best unit economics. |
Lead Time
For a first private label order, a typical timeline runs 6–8 weeks from an approved tech pack to shipment: sampling 7–10 days, bulk production 25–35 days, and QC plus packing 3–5 days. The steps most likely to move the date are an unclear tech pack (adds a sampling round) and an unapproved lab-dip (holds bulk). A clear tech pack is the biggest accelerator — our tech-pack guide shortens that step.
| Phase | Typical time |
|---|---|
| Sampling (PP sample) | 7–10 days |
| Bulk production | 25–35 days |
| QC & packing | 3–5 days |
| Total (first order) | 6–8 weeks |
Case Study: A Shopify Brand
A Shopify-based private label brand came to us with a three-color girls’ brief line and a first order of 500 pcs. Because the brand was new to apparel, we ran two sampling rounds before bulk. The sequence:
- Week 0: Tech pack, label artwork, and compliance (CPC, tracking label, fiber accuracy) planned up front.
- Week 1–3: Two PP sample rounds — first to set the fit, second to lock the waistband and label placement.
- Week 4–6: Bulk sewn and inspected to AQL 2.5 / 4.0.
- Week 7: Packed to GB 31701 Class A specs with custom hangtags and booked.
- Result: Delivered in ~45 days — typical for a two-round startup profile, not a guaranteed timeline.

What would have broken it: a vague tech pack (adds a sampling round), an unapproved lab-dip (stops bulk), or a CPC discovered at Week 7 (holds the container). Deciding compliance at Week 0 protects the date — and for a two-round startup, that planning is what kept a 45-day launch on track.
IP Protection & the NNN Agreement
The question every private label founder asks eventually: “Will the factory copy my design?” We answer it with a contract, not a promise. Nuohua signs an NNN agreement — Non-Disclosure, Non-Use, and Non-Circumvention — before any confidential tech pack or artwork is shared.
- Non-Disclosure. Your designs, specs, and customer data stay confidential and are not shared outside the production need.
- Non-Use. We do not use your designs, patterns, or artwork for any other customer or our own stock.
- Non-Circumvention. We do not bypass you to reach your customers or suppliers using information you provided.
Operationally, confidentiality is built into the floor, not just the paper: the BOM and label references for your program are kept separate from other brands, and sampling is run against your signed PP sample only. A private label brand should be able to share a tech pack without a second thought — the NNN is how we make that true in writing.
